Since 1991,  Metal Chem Inc. takes pride on providing high quality metal plating and finishing with unmatched customer service. As a family-owned company, we understand the value of our customers and place them as priority at our business. Throughout the years we have proudly fulfilled the plating and finishing needs of Aerospace and Military Defense companies such as: Lockheed Martin, Curtiss-Wright, Northrop Grumman, ITT, and Marvin Engineering. As a Nadcap accredited company, our plating and finishing quality is of highest importance. We are proud to offer a broad range of painting, powder coating and plating services including the following:

Metal Chem Inc. has developed specialized processes to Printed Circuit Board Assemblies in accordance with the requirements of IPC-CC-830 Class 3, compliant with MIL-I-46058C and RoHS directive 2015/863/EU based on the material selection.  We specialized in conformal coatings for Military applications, Aerospace, Medical Devices Commercial LED lighting Assemblies.

Our conformal coating process includes the masking of the required areas to remain free of conformal coating material base on the design documentation, and counts with dedicated spray booths to prevent cross contaminations among the different types processed. All the assemblies are 100% visually inspected under UV light to ensure that every assembly complies with IPC-A-610 and or J-STD-001 Class 3 requirements for the following types:

  • Acrylic Conformal Coatings provide excellent moisture and environmental protection for printed circuit assemblies, are fungus resistant it produces low heat during the curing process eliminating potential damage to heat sensitive components. The coatings possess low shrinkage, provide significant humidity resistance and exhibit low glass transition temperatures.
  • Polyurethane Conformal Coatings provide excellent humidity resistance and far greater chemical resistance than acrylic coatings. Depending on the application, this material is the number one choice for military and medical applications.
  • Silicone Conformal Coating is the first choice to protect electronic assemblies that will be subject to a high temperature environment. This coating type is designed to withstand prolonged exposure to higher temperatures than other conformal coating chemistries. This attribute positions this coating as the number one choice for power supplies and automotive applications. Typically and if required, this coating thickness can easily be increased to aid the assembly design as a vibration dampening/isolation tool if the coated assembly will be part of a high vibration environment.

Potting or encapsulation is a process of filling an electronic assembly within its enclosure with a solid or soft compound.  This process is mainly recommended for high voltage assemblies to improve the protection against corona discharge, improve resistance to shock, vibration, and altitude, it prevents the intrusion moisture, corrosion and or fluids.

Silicone rubber gels are often used. In the potting process, an electronic assembly is placed inside a mold or its own enclosure which is then filled with an insulating liquid compound that hardens, permanently protecting the assembly. DOW Corning®, SYLGARD™ materials are the primary choice for this process.

MCI has developed specialized processes for the encapsulation of Aerospace Devices such as battery packs, power supplies, Military LED lighting, Solar Inverters among other products for different industries.

Dry film lubricants, or solid lubricants, are designed and utilized to lower the friction between two moving surfaces in direct contact. This coating provides corrosion resistance, prevents galling and seizing between moving parts. MCI has developed processes to apply these lubricants and accordance with the following specifications for Type I, II and III.

  • AS5272C
  • MIL-L-46010
  • MIL-PRF-46010
  • MIL-L-8937
